Technical Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Manager to join the team.  Reporting to the Director of National Accounts, the successful candidate will be responsible for handling all technical management on all major customers covering product specifications, supplier audits and general technical issues. 

The role will be based at our office in Clapham North but there will be travel involved.

Role (key tasks):

- Act as key technical contact for National Account customers
- Act as point of reference for suppliers on all technical requirements for different customers
- Work with producers to ensure successful results at technical audits – preparation, gap analyses, attending audits, follow up any non-conformances
- Keep up to date product specifications for all relevant listings
- Develop a comprehensive filing system to store all information related to the above
- Continual improvement and assessment of technical practices
- Develop an ongoing project of traceability from the vineyard to the glass for producers.
- Keep up to date on all legislation related to the production, labelling and import/export of wine – manage compliance for relevant products

Key requirements (skills and experience):

Must have a good understanding of the following:
- BRC / ISO / equivalent food safety
- Winery practices / bottling
- Winery risk assessments
- Highly organised & efficient, good communicator, numerate and computer literate
- Practical winemaking & vintage experience
- Relevant education – BSC in Oenology (or equivalent) & WSET Diploma
- Commitment to a high level of customer service
- Languages (Italian, Spanish, French) are a major advantage
- Previous experience in dealing with supermarket technical teams are also an advantage

Salary will be commensurate with experience with the following:

- Personal Bonus of up to 5% of basic salary based on performance against key objectives
- Participation in discretionary Company bonus scheme
- 22 days holiday rising to 25 days
- Discounted wine
