Paralympic deliveries

Deliveries during the Paralympic Games
We would like to thank all our customers who adapted their delivery requirements for the Olympic Games. We are only half way there though as the Paralympic Games start on Wednesday 29th August and run until the 9th September.

Road and traffic restrictions will come back into effect for some roads on the Paralympic Route Network. While these are not as extensive as during the Olympics, schools will be starting again and many people who escaped London during the Olympics are now back at work. The Paralympics are expected to be sold out for the first time in their history and so the impact is expected to be severe in some areas.

We would again suggest that people visit http://www.getaheadofthegames.com to see what impact has been forecast and adapt their operations accordingly.
We are continuing with our night time delivery service right through the Paralympic Games and would ask customers to confirm their delivery requirements with each order they place to avoid any confusion. Please see our previous posts if you require any clarification on order cut offs and delivery days.

We will still offer our usual day time delivery service but expect that heavy traffic alongside road restrictions will cause delays. As a result we will not be able to guarantee our usual timed deliveries. We will of course make every effort to deliver your wines when and where you want them during the day.

Bank Holiday Monday - 27th August
As next Monday is a Bank Holiday the Liberty offices will be closed. We reopen at 4am on Tuesday morning, and our first night time delivery service will be Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

If you need any further information then please contact Customer Services or your sales contact..

Olympic and Paralympic deliveries from Liberty Wines - Update

We have had feedback from some customers about their plans for managing deliveries during the Olympics. It is crucial that we have information back from all customers so that we can adequately plan your deliveries during this period.

Olympic Torch Relay in London

The Olympic Torch will be in London the week of 23rd July and will cause disruption in certain areas. Please check http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/ to see if you will be affected.

While we will still attempt to make deliveries in affected areas on the Torch Relay days, we expect there to be disruption that will result in deliveries being delayed, and in some instances we may be unable to make deliveries. We would urge customers on affected days to plan in advance consider alternative delivery dates to avoid disruption.

Deliveries during the Olympics and Paralympics

As previously advised we will be delivering overnight during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, from 23rd July to 11th September.

We have been advised that the most severely affected areas will only be able to accept night time deliveries, and we will not be able to offer a daytime delivery to some customers.

Traffic delays will be London wide and all deliveries within London will be affected. Even if you are not directly on one of the ORN or PRN routes, deliveries will be delayed where our drivers are attempting to navigate road restrictions, or are affected by traffic.

While we will still offer a daytime delivery service during this period we expect that heavy traffic alongside road restrictions will cause delays. As a result we will not be able to guarantee our usual timed deliveries. We will of course make every effort to deliver your wines when and where you want them during the day.

Some customers have requested that we hold keys in order to make unattended deliveries. Given the nature and value of the wine we deliver, we have taken the decision not to drop deliveries without a signed delivery note.

We will be making deliveries to the following schedule:

Overnight Deliveries

Delivery Required Delivery Time * Order Before
Monday night / Tuesday morning Midnight - 6:00am 5.30pm Monday
Tuesday night / Wednesday morning Midnight - 6:00am 5.30pm Tuesday
Wednesday night / Thursday morning Midnight - 6:00am 5.30pm Wednesday
Thursday night / Friday morning Midnight - 6:00am 5.30pm Thursday
Friday night / Saturday morning Midnight - 6:00am 5.30pm Friday

* We will be offering three overnight delivery windows. You will need to specify which you require when placing an order. We will default to Midnight to 6am where you do not specify.

Delivery From Delivery Until
Midnight 6:00am
Midnight 3:00am
3:00am 6:00am

Daytime Deliveries

Delivery Required Delivery Time Order Before
Monday 7:00am - 4:00pm 4:00am Monday
Tuesday 7:00am - 4:00pm 4:00am Tuesday
Wednesday 7:00am - 4:00pm 4:00am Wednesday
Thursday 7:00am - 4:00pm 4:00am Thursday
Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm 4:00am Friday

Whilst we will make every effort to deliver your wines when and where you want them, we are unable guarantee daytime delivery windows during the Olympics and Paralympics due to restrictions put in place by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) and predicted traffic delays.

For larger or more complex orders (those over 15 cases) we would ask orders to be placed by 12pm the day before delivery where possible.

Placing Orders

When placing orders with Customer Services it is crucial that we are given your delivery requirements so that we can plan our deliveries. Please ensure that the following information is provided at the time of ordering, whether by email, phone or fax:

  1. Day or Night delivery required
  2. Required delivery day
  3. Required delivery time
  4. Contact details for delivery
  5. Any relevant delivery instructions (e.g. road or loading restrictions you are aware of)

Contacting Liberty Wines about deliveries

The offices will be closed from 5:30pm until 10:30pm but you will be able to leave an answerphone message in case of any queries. If required we will call you back from 10:30pm.

Our primary goal during the Olympics is to ensure that we deliver your wines to you with minimal disruption and our planning team has been busy looking at all the options to serve our customers best.

Olympic Deliveries

Olympic and Paralympic deliveries from Liberty Wines

The Olympics will be an exciting time for London, but will present customers and suppliers with a number of logistical challenges.

There are major changes on roads that form part of the Olympic Route Network and Paralympic Route Network (ORN and PRN). These will include suspension of loading/unloading and parking bays in some instances.  Some parts of the ORN/PRN will not allow stopping during operational hours (which depends on the timing of events), and side roads will also be subject to restrictions. Games Lanes will be in place on parts of the ORN/PRN which will reduce road capacity and cause delays for traffic

We have been advised that the most severely affected locations will only be able to accept night time deliveries.

Given this, from Monday 23rd July until Tuesday 11th September, we will be making the majority of our London deliveries from midnight until 6am, Monday to Friday, for orders placed with us the day before. For example, an order placed on Monday would be delivered that night from midnight to 6am. We will still offer a normal daytime delivery service for customers not directly affected by the ORN, but we are expecting severe traffic delays throughout London and around specific events, so would encourage all customers to make use of the out of hours service.

During the same time period, the Liberty Wines’ offices will be staffed overnight, Monday to Friday, for arranging deliveries or placing orders.

Our primary goal during the Olympics is to ensure that we deliver your wines to you with minimal disruption and our planning team has been busy looking at all the options to serve our customers best.

London 2012 and Transport for London have details of the ORN and PRN road restrictions as well as general information about preparing for the impact of the Games:

TfL London 2012: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/london2012/21677.aspx

TfL How to prepare: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/london2012/21838.aspx

TfL ORN and PRN http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/projectsandschemes/18196.aspx

Get Ahead of the Games: http://www.getaheadofthegames.com

We would urge all of our customers to look at the information available from London 2012 and TfL to judge the impact of the Olympics on their business. Customers are also encouraged to check with their premises licensing authority to see if there are any restrictions on deliveries as part of their licence.

Transport for London suggest that businesses consider the following options for their deliveries:

  • Reduce – reduce the number of deliveries during the Games
  • Re-time – consider out of hours deliveries
  • Re-route – consider alternative loading/unloading areas
  • Revise – consider off-site storage

In order for us to deliver to you during the Olympics we would be grateful if you could spend a few minutes confirming your Olympic plans by completing a short questionnaire and replying to this email.

Over the coming weeks we will be sending updates about our Olympic plans. If there is someone else at your organisation who should receive this information then please add their details below. We will also be sending specific information to customers affected by venue and event specific restrictions outlining what we can do you help you.

If you have any questions then please contact Customer Services, your sales contact, or David Gleave.
