Bellavista `Alma Terra` Curtefranca Bianco

Curtefranca, Lombardia

Bellavista

This estate makes Italy’s finest sparkling wines from its 190 hectares of vineyard situated in the western part of the Franciacorta zone in a natural amphitheatre...

The glacial soil is full of stones, and provides the ideal environment for the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes used in the production of their Franciacorta.

Bellavista meaning ‘beautiful view’ in Italian was founded by Vittorio Moretti in the early 1970s, with the first vintage produced in 1979. In 1981, he met a young winemaker, Mattia Vezzola and this partnership transformed Bellavista into Italy’s leading producer of quality sparkling wine.

Vineyards

Of the 190 hectares of vines planted owned by Bellavista within the Franciacorta DOCG and Curtefranca DOC, 11 of these are dedicated to the production of the Bellavista still wines. The grapes for the Alma Terra come from vines that are at least 20 years old in four distinct vineyards with good exposure and ventilation, enabling the grapes to reach optimum ripeness.

Vinification

The grapes are hand harvested and transported immediately to the winery. After pressing, the must is fermented at 20°C so that the grapes maintain their aromatic compounds. After fermentation, the must is transferred to small oak casks for nine months fining before bottling.

Tasting Notes

Straw yellow in colour with green hues. This wine has perfumes of lemon and grapefruit with some floral notes, which follow onto the palate. A pleasant mineral character, good concentration and acidity with a hint of acacia honey on the finish.
