Silky tannins frame a core of black cherries, plums, liquorice and tobacco through to the vibrant finish. The 2008 speaks of textural finesse and silkiness first and foremost. I will not be surprised if the 2008 blossoms further with more time in bottle. Today it is immensely beautiful.
Layers of fruit hide beneath a powerful wall of tannin. The wine remains intensely mineral and equally primary...Those in search of fine, cellar worthy Chianti Classico will adore the 2008 Rancia. Clean, saline notes frame the exquisite finish.
Deep, concentrated ruby. Muted with hints of dried fruit. Rich, fruitcake palate, but acidity and powdery tannin keep it in check.
Rather than get in the way of the cherry and blackberry flavours, the deft use of oak merely adds spice and interest. The firm backbone and earth and tobacco notes are rooted in place. The austere finish reflects tobacco and tea accents.
Classic Sangiovese with floral, berry, leather and mineral notes. Impeccably balanced with silky but gripping tannins and lovely depth. Very compelling.
