Starts out rich and full of pure cherry and raspberry flavours, featuring a sweetness that dissipates as the dusty tannins emerge. Shows a little heat, but finds balance in the end, with sweet fruit and spice notes.

The 2009 Barolo Bussia is a magnificent wine that makes a bold opening statement thanks to the high calibre and intensity of its bouquet. Power and sheer determination set the wine on course smoothly over the palate and the quality of the tannin is firm and tense. The wine presents fruit characteristics of dried cherry and cassis that are not too obvious but are soon followed by delicate tobacco, Indian spice, cola, tar and liquorice. It’s a picture-perfect young Barolo for 2009.

Real lift and life to this. Wonderful savoury depths. Quite powerful but with great integrity.

Strawberries, flowers and berries on the nose. Full body with fine tannins that highlight flavours of chocolate and light walnut. Refined and very pretty.
