Senior Financial Accountant

Liberty Wines, one of the wine industry’s fastest growing and most respected importers, is recruiting a Senior Financial Accountant.

This role reports to the Finance Manager and primarily deals with the control environment across the group, as well as compliance, audit and banking. This is a commercially focussed role, where time will be spent both with Finance and non-Finance teams, as well as Senior managers.

Due to the size of the Finance team, there will ample opportunity to get involved in all other aspects of Finance as well as ad hoc analysis. This role may suit an individual relatively early in their career who wishes to experience all areas of Finance in a fast-paced, fun, growing multinational. This role initially has no direct management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving improvements in the group control environment, across the commercial business
  • Designing and implementing robust processes both inside and outside of Finance
  • Ownership of the balance sheet across the group, ensuring accurate and reconciled numbers
  • Ownership of statutory compliance reporting, payments and correspondence with tax and other authorities
  • Management of the statutory audit and close relationship with auditors
  • Delivering improvement projects across finance and non-finance teams
  • Responsibility for confirming accuracy of payment runs and maintaining a view of cash levels
  • Ad hoc analysis as required by Finance Manager, Head of Finance and senior management
  • Opportunity to experience all aspects of Finance
  • Deputising for Finance Manager as required

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), likely 1-3 years PQE
  • Experience of implementing new processes and improving control environments
  • Experience with statutory reporting, Audit and compliance
  • Experience working in an FMCG/Retail/Wholesale environment or if from practice, with clients operating in these environments (desirable)
  • Experience in a multi-currency working environment (desirable)
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence both financial and non-financial people
  • Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Strong IT (advanced Excel) and technical financial skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage upwards

Salary range will be dependent on experience.
