Our Picks: Sauvignon Blanc On Tour

It is International Sauvignon Blanc Day on Friday 1st May and we have put together a selection of wines worth celebrating with. This versatile grape variety has travelled from its birthplace in France to New Zealand and beyond. From its classic Sancerre heartland to the highest altitude vineyards of Argentina, each unique wine region has put their own stamp on one of the world’s most loved white wines.

 

Montes Outer Limits Zapallar Sauvignon Blanc 2019​

From a single vineyard in the Zapallar region of Aconcagua, just seven kilometres from the Pacific Ocean, this wine has a racy acidity and intense aromatics. Attractive tropical notes of passionfruit and pink grapefruit mingle with tomato leaf and a saline, mineral finish.

Tinpot Hut Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

A quintessential Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc boasting punchy aromas of passion fruit, gooseberry, lemongrass and melon. It is easy to see why this wine won Gold at the Sommelier Wine Awards 2019.

A classic Sancerre from a family which has been making wine in this fabled region for over nine generations. This is an elegant wine with bright aromas of grapefruit, lemon and peach complemented by subtle floral notes and crisp and refreshing acidity.

Bodega Colomé Altura Maxima Salta Sauvignon Blanc 2018

From Argentina’s oldest winery comes this Sauvignon Blanc grown at a staggering 3,111 metres above sea level in the Salta region in the far north of Argentina. This is an intense and concentrated wine with lemongrass, nettle and refreshing citrus fruit characters complemented by a beautiful textural quality and a slight creaminess of the palate.
