Alma Atlántica

Galicia, galicia Spain

Alma Atlántica translates as ‘Atlantic Soul’ and is inspired by wines made in proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The two semi-aromatic whites come from different regions, and the aim of Alma Atlántica is to create fresh and lively whites with lots of personality and boldness of flavour.

The ‘Alba Martín’ Albariño comes from the Val do Salnés subzone in the Rías Baixas appellation. Val do Salnés is not only the oldest subzone in the appellation, it is also the coolest, situated right on the Atlantic Coast, giving fresh and aromatic wines.

The ‘Mara Martín’ Godello comes from DO Monterrei (meaning ‘king’s mountain’) and is 200 kilometres inland from Rías Baixas. This appellation is warmer, giving whites which are slightly fuller in body, but still sees some cooling influence from altitude and the Atlantic, which maintains freshness.

Both whites are handled gently to preserve their delicate aromas, from hand picking the grapes into 20 kilogram containers to gentle, controlled crushing with a pneumatic press. The whites are also both fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks, have no oak influence and are bottled early to preserve their fresh fruit aromas. While the ‘Mara Martín’ Godello is fuller in body and weight than the ‘Alba Martín’ Albariño, both wines are dry and are excellent to enjoy with seafood dishes and small plates.
