Domaine Nicolas Girard

Loire, loire France

Nicolas Girard was introduced to us by his friend David Sautereau. In addition to making wine for his family’s estate, Domaine des Brosses, Nicolas also owns 3.5 hectares, from which he makes his own wines in his small winery.

Nicolas’ vines are situated on the hillsides of Veaugues on well-drained clay and limestone soils. His Sancerre is sourced from vines aged up to 25 years old. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks, without any use of oak, to retain its purity of fruit. A quintessential Sancerre, this wine boasts concentrated flavours of fresh citrus fruit, hay and wet stone. It is well balanced with bright acidity and a lifted finish.
