Like Il Faggio (from Abruzzo) and Cento Cavalli (from Sicily), this wine is made by the Liberty Wines winemaking team (led by Luca Degani and Matt Thomson) in a privately owned and modern winery on the Salento peninsula. The brief to the winemakers was simple: we want a clean, fresh and vibrant Primitivo that is both modern and typical of the variety.

In order to achieve these objectives, the winemakers selected the fruit from the best parcels on the estate, ensuring ripeness but no shrivelling, as this gives raisiny fruit and harsh tannins to the wine. They then fermented at low temperatures to retain freshness, and checked the tank daily to ensure they didn't extract too much tannin. Partially aged in oak to add complexity, the wine was blended and shipped to Verona for bottling and storage. It is ripe and plummy and easy to drink.
