Valentin Bianchi

Mendoza, mendoza Argentina

Bianchi is located in San Rafael, a couple of hours' drive south of Mendoza city, in the most southern part of the Mendoza wine-growing region. Founded in 1928 by Italian immigrant Valentin Bianchi, the estate is now run by the third generation of the family. Their 350 hectares of vineyard are situated at an altitude of 750 metres above sea level which, combined with the more southerly position, results in a cool climate. This gives fresh flavours to the wines that develop more gradually over the growing season. The soils here are of sandy calcareous composition and alluvial origins. The semi-desert environment (there is less than 300mm of rain here a year) provides perfect conditions for the conversion to sustainable practices and organic viticulture, which the estate is currently undergoing. Bianchi have two separate modern wineries, one devoted to their traditional method Non-Vintage Brut (widely considered to be one of Argentina's best sparkling wines) and the other dedicated to the production of their still wines.
