Vila Regia

Douro, douro Portugal

This wine was first produced in the Douro in 1989. Made by winemaker Luís Sottomayor, it is from grapes grown in a selection of vineyards located primarily at altitude in the upper reaches of the Douro. Luís' aim is to produce bright, lively wines for youthful drinking. Native Douro varieties dominate the red, comprised of Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. It is fermented in stainless-steel tanks at a relatively low temperature (25˚C) to preserve freshness and minimise tannin extraction, giving a wine that is fresh yet supple and ready to drink early.
