Villa di Trefiano

Tuscany, tuscany Italy

The 'Villa di Trefiano', a fine example of renaissance architecture built in 1570, was bought by the Contini Bonacossi family in the 1920s. The Villa lies 200 metres above sea level and is surrounded by five hectares of vineyards planted with Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate is owned and run by the Contini Bonacossi family with the same respect for tradition and attention to detail that is seen at Capezzana. In 1979 the late Vittorio Contini Bonacossi decided to produce a wine exclusively from this estate as a different interpretation of Carmignano. The Carmignano Riserva is a blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged in 350 litres barrels for around 18 months to give an opulent yet elegant wine.
