'Mala Vida' means 'the bad side of the good life' and the playful label depicts a draughts board of sin. The wine is deep ruby red in colour with intense aromas of red and black fruit and subtle vanilla and spice from oak ageing. The unctuous palate has sweet, ripe tannins and long-lasting fruit flavours.

Mala Vida comes from a sustainably farmed vineyard with vines that are aged between 15 and 30 years old. These vines are grown on clay and limestone soils in the Terres de Alforins area, which is situated at 650 metres above sea level.
Extreme weather was seen across the wine world in 2017 and Spain was no exception. Drought was the major issue with no rain falling between March and August. Luckily, a welcome spell of rain fell during the first week of September, allowing the vines to complete the ripening process. Overall grape quality was high with healthy bunches of smaller berries with intense flavours and excellent concentration.
The wine is a fruit-forward blend of 30% Tempranillo, 30% Monastrell, 20% Shiraz and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation took place before the wine was aged in a mixture of French, Hungarian and American oak barrels for eight months to add depth and roundness.
Bodegas Arráez, located in Valencia, was established by local growers in 1916 to enable them to vinify their own harvest. In 1950, Don Antonio Arráez bought this property and it has been in the hands of the Arráez family ever since. The vineyards are 90 kilometres from the Mediterranean at 600-800 metres altitude, giving freshness to the grapes grown in this hot region. All the grapes are hand-picked. "Vivido" means "live life to the full".
