The ‘En Pente’ has aromas of blueberry and raspberry fruits with mouth-watering acidity and round tannins. The wine has a long and scented finish that showcases the fresh and bright Malbec fruit.

This wine is named after the En Pente vineyard. The 28 hectare vineyard is located on terraces of Kimmeridgian limestone. The fruit for this wine comes from a 2 hectare plot towards the higher, steeper part of the slope.
After a warm sunny spring, an unusually cool and damp summer followed. Fortunately, this was followed by a warm September and October which aided ripening prior to harvest.
After being harvested by hand, the grapes from the En Pente vineyard underwent fermentation at 28 °C in cement tanks using ambient yeasts. The wine spent 20 days on its skins with careful pump overs to aid extraction. The wine was then aged in tank for two years to add roundness to the wine. The wine was lightly filtered prior to bottling. No fining took place.
Antonio Morescalchi of Altos Las Hormigas, visited Cahors in 2013 with Pedro Parra, the renowned expert on vineyard mapping in South America, to learn about the origins of Malbec. The longer they spent there, the more they became fascinated by the diversity of the soils, especially the vines planted on Kimmeridgian limestone. They selected two vineyards owned by a local family as the wellspring of their Cahors Malbec project. The name, Causse du Théron, translates to ‘hills of Theron’, causse meaning hill in the local dialect.
