Producer
The Sanama Reserva wines are made by the team at Château Los Boldos, using a combination of estate fruit (younger vines and declassified tanks) and grapes purchased from local growers. The resulting wines offer great value, defined with clear varietal characters in a fruit-forward style, ready for drinking.
The estate vineyards in the Cachapoal Andes Valley are planted to the east of the valley on the foothills of the Andes. They are protected from the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean by these mountains, but the influence of the Andes also ensures warm days and cool nights. These provide ideal ripening conditions for the grapes, resulting in ripe tannins and attractive perfumes.
Vineyards
The grapes are sourced from an alluvial, well drained, stony soils from the feet of the Andes at 400m above sea level in Requinoa. Large diurnal range exists in the vineyard creating excellent conditions for growing ripe concentrated grapes with high natural acidity, the vineyards are protected from the cool Pacific air by the coastal mountains. The vines are spur pruned, trellised vineyards.
Vintage
The 2025 vintage was marked by warm summer conditions with heat spikes in January and February that accelerated ripening and prompted an earlier harvest. Steady temperature increases throughout spring and early summer drove the growing season forward at a faster pace than historical averages. Cooler weather arrived in March and April, helping preserve balance and freshness. Yields fell notably short of average, with some vineyards experiencing reductions of 20% or more, though the concentrated fruit suggested promising quality and intensity in the final wines.
Vinification
The fruit was pressed on arrival at the winery with the resulting juice left overnight to settle out impurities. It was then fermented with selected yeasts at 16-18 ºC in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks. The wine rested on the lees for a short time before it was fined, filtered and bottled.
Tasting Notes & Technical Details
